The screen is now dominating our world, closing the alarm for the first time in the morning and checking information, to stare at a large screen at work, only to take a break. After reaching home, this is another screen, slightly larger, taking timber, dinner time. And the day ends with a final session of dumcolling. Everywhere everywhere with screen, eye health is obliged to take a hit, often feeling stressful and tired.

He said, “In today’s digital age, most of us are spending extended hours in front of the screen – it is for work, study, or holiday. Dr. Savitha Arun shared this detailed guide with us, listed the required eye care tips, from proper ergonomics to nutrition:
1. Balance your light system

- Inadequate light, either very bright or very dim, can force your eyes to work hard, which can cause fatigue.
- Ensure that your scope is well burnt with soft, indirect light.
- Avoid placing a screen in front or back of bright light sources to reduce brightness.
- Using anti-glare screen filters can also help.
2. Adjust the height of your screen
- When your screen is too much or very rarely deployed, your eyes and neck are forced to unnatural positions.
- The top of your screen should be slightly below or slightly below the eye level, and at a distance of a hand.
- This condition reduces both visual stress and musculoskeletal stress.
3. Follow the 20-20-20 rule
- Using a continuous screen without brakes can overload the eye muscles.
- To reduce fatigue, follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This simple practice allows your eye muscles to relax and helps to focus.
4. More often blinking
- Blinking keeps the eyes moist and comfortable. However, when we stare at the screen, the rate of our eyelid decreases significantly, causing dryness and irritation.
- Make a conscious effort to take a blink more often, and consider using the preservative-free lubricating eye drops if necessary.
5. Eat right for your eyes

Nutrition plays an important role in maintaining eye health, especially for individuals who spend longer in front of the screen. It is necessary to stay well hydrated, as dehydration can spoil eye dryness. One should join a balanced diet:
- Vitamin A (Found in Carrot and Sweet Surekand)
- Lutein and Zexanthin (leafy greens, eggs and corn)
- Omega -3 fatty acids (from fish, walnuts, and flaxseeds)
- Vitamin C
- Zinc (from nut)
