Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, in a social media post on X on Wednesday 16 April, announced that he met with a delegation of Starlink officials to discuss the future plans of the company to invest in India.
In his post, Goyal highlighted that he met Starlink Vice President Chad Gibbs and Senior Director Ryan Goodnight to discuss India’s partnership with Elon Musk’s company.
“Discussions covered Starlink’s state -of -the -art technology platform, his current participation in India and future investment plans,” Piyush Goyal said in his post on platform X.
Starlink partnership with Jio, Bharti Airtel
Elon Musk’s Starlink announced its move to sign a partnership agreement with India’s telecom head Bharti Airtel to bring high-speed satellite internet service to India on Tuesday, March 11, as per BSE filing.
The deal will be given to SpaceX, the owner of the brand Starlink, the right to sell Starlink services in India after receiving regulatory approval from the country officials.

A day later, Reliance-owned Jio announced that, similar to Airtel, it has participated with Elon Musk’s Spacex to provide high-speed internet services to its customers in India.
Starlink aims to take advantage of Jio’s market dominance to enter the Indian market and provide satellite internet technology to ensure reliable data access across the country.

Starlinks, according to its official website, uses Earth’s lower orbit to provide broadband internet and it was the first and largest satellite to do so globally.
People can use this broadband internet network to support streaming, online gaming, video calling etc., by tapping in satellite network through their star clink equipment.
Partnership between the US -based firm and Indian telecommunications big companies is expected to address India’s connectivity issues in rural and remote areas and expand the country’s domestic telecommunications industry.
