“If you rely on exercise to lose weight, it will feel that you have to do one thing. Therefore, I have a better, more sustainable plan,” EGIS said in its post. Here are the steps that he suggests for effective and permanent weight loss:

1. Eat for fat loss

EGIS says that dietary adjustment is a more effective way to achieve weight loss than being dependent only. He explains that burning some extra calories through workouts can be beneficial, but the key to sustainable weight loss is linked to maintaining a proper calorie deficit through the diet.

2. Train for muscles and strength

The EGIS recommends lifting weight 2-4 times a week to maintain or create muscles. “Focusing on your health to improve and strengthening rather than burning calories, aka training for performance. Whether you want to lose weight or want to create muscles, the answer is the same: Training should be hypertrophy-centered because the muscle makes your body shape,” they say.

3. If you do cardio …

EGIS has highlighted that cardio should be done for its health benefits instead of burning calories only. “It doesn’t matter how many calories you burn or how much you sweat. Cardio will not help with conservation of muscles or large -scale calorie burn, but it is important for overall health. So, do so, if you want.”

4. Movement outside the gym

EGIS highlights the importance of movement outside the gym for overall health and weight management. While lifting weight is beneficial, it is important to include daily activities like walking, especially for those who are not cardio. He recommends a target for over 7,000 steps a day for optimal results.
