The time has been fixed for the completion of the first phase of the ropeway under construction from Cantt station to near the temple. That is, after the stipulated time, devotees will be able to complete half the journey from the station to the temple conveniently. However, in the second phase, work up to the temple is also going on at a fast pace.
Prakash Gaur, CEO of NHML, the NHAI company constructing the ropeway, said that the foundation stone of the ropeway was laid by the Prime Minister in March last year and in about a year (by March-April 2024), two km. That’s why cable cars are being brought from there. A 10-seater cable car will run in this ropeway. Initially a total of 18 cable cars will run in the ropeway. However, the design of the ropeway will be such that the number of cable cars can be increased as per the need.
A look at the ropeway
The total length of the ropeway will be 3.75 km. Five stations will be built in it, but there will be only four stations for boarding and deboarding. The fifth station will be built due to technical reasons. Of these four stations, the first will be Cantt Railway Station, the second will be Vidyapeeth, the third will be Rath Yatra and the fourth and last station will be Godaulia. Since there are no vehicles beyond this point to reach the temple, the ropeway will be run only here.
3000 passengers will be able to travel per hour
3000 passengers per hour will be able to travel on the ropeway cable car. With increase in the number of people, the number of cable cars will be increased. In the initial phase, 300 passengers will be able to travel per hour.
30 minutes time will be left after the entire ropeway is ready
After the complete construction of the ropeway, 30 minutes will be left to reach the temple from Cantt station. Currently, normally it takes 45 minutes to reach Godaulia (near the temple) from the station. But after the start of the ropeway, it can be reached in 15 to 16 minutes. Since there is more traffic on the route where the ropeway is being constructed.
