In a millinery in Central London, fascinated guests on Friday tried on a cap of various sizes and sizes, bending to smell a chocolate, and the other with the aroma of autumn. Legendary British Hat-Mekar Stephen Jones detected the senses for her autumn-winter 2025 presentation at the London Fashion Week, with satin, tartan, crepe, and even a performance with a glass hat.

“I was thinking about how people got connected through the cap, and so it is about vision, and taste and touch,” Jones, who also designs hats for Dior, in his studio in Covent Garden Told AFP. The wings floated above a delicate fascinator, icy beads were dropped from another headband, and Jones described a black satin flakep with white piping as “assured” and “fun”.

“What’s about fashion? Is fashion the same? Is fashion self-expression? Can fashion be fun? So it has come about this collection,” Jones said. In the background, a guest tried on a hat with blurred petals, stating, “It is very strange, when I take off the cap, I feel naked.”

The center of attraction was a willy Vonka-Esk Top Hat made of chocolate with a bite-shaped hole in its crown, which Jones prepared in collaboration with Paris-based Pattisier Jaan Lai. Jones already had an order for a hat from a “woman who wants to wear it for her birthday party, and said confectionery head coverings could be” wore anyone “. “Although not too hot”, he said.

‘Celebrating life’

For Princess Diana, falling down from luxurious berets to the headdress for the headdress, Jones’ hat has served as the glory of more than four decades of celebrities and designers crowns. His work is currently displayed in a retrospective of Paris’s Pallis Galerira, called “Stephen Jones, Chapo D’Arte”, which brings some 170 hats spread in his career together.

The 67 -year -old Jones was born “near Liverpool, somewhere”. “So for me, Paris was always an exciting place,” Jones said, which divides his time between London and Paris. “Paris has always impressed my work,” he said, a customary brown beret balance on his head. Jones designed his first hat when he was a student out of a grain box in Central St. Martins, London and scraped from his sister’s blouse.

The feeling of eccentric and innovation never really went away. “Everything else can be serious, but fashion and cap should be about celebrating life,” he said. “Especially currently.” For the Military Guru, it was “strange” to attend Fashion Week at the time of global political uncertainty. “But what this fashion does. At least you can control how you wear clothes in the morning.”

Jones has collaborated with designers of Vivian Westwood and Jean Paul Galtier, with Messon Margila and Com Des Garcons, catching heads of all A-listers, including styling Rihanna in Matter of an ornate bishop for Met Gala in 2018. Popular because it is like a talisman of something.

“People wear jackets and sewing and shoes … but to show their personality, perhaps a hat is a very good way to do so.” Despite preparing a roster of fashion royalty, Jones said that she still did not make a hat for Queen Camilla of Britain. “The queen has not wore my hat yet. Perhaps one day I will make a hat (for him),” Jones said. After 45 years of presenting the collection, how does he draw ideas from his hat? “I think this is my character. I live my life, and put it in a hat.”
