When will the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announce the new Chief Minister of Delhi? As the suspense grows on the new CM’s face, there is speculation that after the end of the budget session of Parliament, there can be any development in Delhi politics and Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his foreign visit.
Earlier, the BJP’s winning candidate from Rajouri Garden Assembly seat, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the high command of the party will choose the Chief Minister of Delhi. He had said that Delhi “is a very important city, and whoever implements PM Modi’s vision will be CM.”
But how is a CM chosen?
There is a long process. What will happen here after BJP wins Delhi elections 2025:
step 1: The BJP will first appoint supervisors. Typically, the BJP issues a press note, announcing the observers who belong to the central team.
step 2: Supervisors will then meet MLAs
step 3: Legislature meeting or assembly party meeting: Supervisor and MLA will meet to appoint a leader
step 4: New Delhi CM’s name will be announced
The process is expected to take at least one week.
In addition, there is a discussion in political circles that the legislature party is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi after meeting France and America.
PM Modi will visit the US on 12-13 February at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. In addition, the budget session of Parliament will end on 13 February.
Who will be Delhi CM?
Ending the magic of over 26 years out of power, the BJP won 48 seats in the 70 -member assembly, with 22 seats to each other with 22 seats.
According to reports, a Chief Minister can be selected from the newly-taken party MLAs “All 48 MLAs are equal in the party’s eyes and any of them can be CM,” BJP leader Vijendra Gupta said.
A BJP leader told news agency PTI that the party could consider a ‘Purvanchal’ background, a Sikh or an MLA with a woman based on the political calculations guiding their top brass.
He said, “In 2023, previous experiences including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and last year Odisha, leaving very few space for speculation on such matters,” he said.
In the past, the BJP has selected new and low-known figures-for the post of Chief Minister with the unknown low public profiles. For example, BJP selected Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh, Bhajan Lal Sharma in Rajasthan, Vishnu Dev Sai in Chhattisgarh, Pushkar Singh Dhammi in Uttarakhand and Mohan Charan Maji in Odisha.
