This development led to a conflict between senior officials of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), who chose different teams. After a heated debate and intervention of the local police, the team selected by BCA president Rakesh Tiwari played the match with a considerable delay.
Rakesh Tiwari said that he had suspended BCA secretary Amit Kumar for creating ruckus before the match, which created all the confusion. The secretary continued the insulting tone and claimed that the president of the cricket body does not have the authority to select the final team.
He said, “We have selected the team on the basis of merit and it is the right team. You see the talent coming from Bihar. We have a cricketer (Saqib Hussain) who has been selected in the IPL. We have a talented 12-year-old who is making his debut in the game. The other one is being selected by the secretary who is suspended, so it cannot be the actual team,” said BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, speaking to news platform The IndianExpress.
“First things first: I won the election, and I am the official secretary of the BCA. You cannot suspend a secretary. Secondly, how does a president select a team? Have you ever seen BCCI President Roger Binny announcing the team? You will always see the signature of Secretary Jai Shah,” countered Secretary Amit Kumar.
