Who would win if the Lok Sabha elections were held today? India Today released the Mood of the Nation survey on Thursday, which revealed who would benefit or lose if the general elections were held today. What did the survey reveal:

1. NDA vs India

The Mood of the Nation survey has revealed that the Congress, which won 99 out of 543 Lok Sabha seats in the June 2024 elections, would have crossed the 100-seat mark if the elections were held today. The survey has predicted that there will be no major change in the number of seats won by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The survey shows that if the Lok Sabha elections were held today, the BJP-led NDA would marginally improve its tally by six seats to reach 299. At the same time, the Bharat Block would retain its tally and lose one seat to reach 233.

2. For Prime Minister, Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi?

The Mood of the Nation survey found that the gap between the ratings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi as the next prime minister is narrowing.

According to the survey, PM Modi’s rating has dropped by 6 points compared to the February 2024 edition of Mood of the Nation, while Rahul Gandhi’s rating has increased by eight points in the same period.

3. Maharashtra

The survey revealed that if Lok Sabha elections were held today, the BJP and the Congress are likely to gain an edge in the number of seats in Maharashtra at the cost of their allies.

The survey found that the BJP’s seat count in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections being held today could increase by three – taking its tally to 12. Similarly, the Congress will also win three more seats, taking its tally to 16, the survey showed.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP-led NDA suffered a major setback in Maharashtra as it managed to win 17 out of the total 48 seats in the state. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party got 30 seats.

4. Jharkhand

If the Lok Sabha elections were held today, the BJP-led NDA would have won the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats in JMM-ruled Jharkhand. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is part of the India Block.

According to the survey, if elections were held today, out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, NDA would have got 11 seats, while India Block would have got three seats. In the 2024 elections, NDA got nine seats and India Block got five seats.

5. Haryana

The MOTN survey shows that if elections were held today, Congress would have won 6 out of 10 seats in Haryana. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP and Congress will win five seats each in Haryana.

According to the Mood of the Nation survey, if Lok Sabha elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir today, Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would have gained one seat. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the PDP did not get a single seat. If elections were held today, it could have won one seat out of a total of five.

The Lok Sabha elections were held between April-June 2024. Now this year assembly elections are to be held in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
