‘This is against democracy’
Adhikari was criticised for his statement with TMC leader Kunal Ghosh saying “it is against democracy”. He said, “There is a Hindu majority, and then there are minorities, Muslims and Christians, and all democratic parties have a minority cell… If it (BJP) was a democratic party, it would have said our party is for everyone… But they are saying there should not be a minority front…”

The official issued a clarification
The official clarified that the slogan was coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi “and it still stands.” He said his statement was “political” and had nothing to do with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” slogan.
“As a BJP functionary, with great pain, I put forth my point that the BJP state unit should stand with the party workers and not with those who are not standing with the BJP,” the official said.
He complained that despite doing welfare work for all, he hears that ‘BJP is a Hindu party.’ “We are shown black flags and stones are thrown at our vehicles… Whatever we have done so far is for every citizen of the country, irrespective of religion.”

The West Bengal BJP leader said, “My statements are personal and have no connection with the party’s views… There was a minority front in my constituency. I celebrated Eid with 700 people at Milan Utsav.” He further stressed, “Communal voting has affected the BJP a lot…”
