Mumbai: Playback singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder.
In a post on Instagram on Monday night, Yagnik revealed that he has been diagnosed with “sensorineural hearing loss” due to the viral infection.
“To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, while I was getting off the plane, I suddenly felt like I was not able to hear anything. Having gathered some courage in the weeks following the incident, I now want to break my silence for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing in action.
“My doctors have diagnosed it as a rare sensorineural hearing loss caused by a viral attack… This sudden, massive shock has caught me completely unawares,” the 58-year-old singer wrote.
He urged his fans and followers to send their well wishes and “keep me in your prayers”.
Yagnik also cautioned people against listening to “very loud music and headphones”.
“One day, I want to talk to you about the health hazards of my professional life.
Yagnik said, “With all your love and support, I hope I will be able to get my life back on track and come back to you soon. Your support and understanding means a lot to me at this crucial time.”
Singers Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, senior actresses Poonam Dhillon and Ila Arun have wished Yagnik a speedy recovery.
Nigam commented on Yagnik’s post, “I felt something was wrong… I will meet you when I come back… May God bless you with a speedy recovery.”
Mahadevan said, “Praying for your speedy recovery Alkhaji!! You will be absolutely fine and perform brilliantly as always! Lots of love and best wishes.”
Arun said he was confident that Yagnik would recover “with the blessings and help of the best doctors of today.” He added, “Soon we will hear your sweet voice. Love you, always take care of yourself.”
“Lots of love and lots of prayers and blessings for you. May you find all the strength in love to get well soon and get beautifully healthy. Love you,” Dhillon added.
