Actor Sunil Lahri, who played the role of Laxman in ‘Ramayana’, has expressed disappointment over the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Since the BJP did not get a majority this time, he raised the question whether the NDA government would be able to complete its term without any trouble.
In a video message posted on Instagram, Lahiri said, “I am very disappointed to see the results of the election. The turnout was extremely low and then we got to see such results. So, I keep urging people to come out and vote. It is important to consider whether his government, after the BJP did not get a majority, will be able to run smoothly for five years.
He also targeted Ayodhya voters in the Faizabad constituency, where Samajwadi Party’s Akshay Yadav won by defeating BJP candidate Vishwadeep Singh.
“The inhabitants of Ayodhya have always betrayed their true king. They even doubted the virtue of Sita after her exile and rejected the divine truth.”
Another post said, “You did not even spare Mata Sita, so how can you not betray the people who installed Ram in a grand temple. India will never look at you with good eyes.”
He further said, he is happy about one thing that my two favourites won the elections…
The BJP suffered a major setback when it got only 33 seats in Uttar Pradesh against 63 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the vote share was 41.37 percent. The seats that the BJP was most focused on include Faizabad, Amethi and Rae Bareli.
On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party alone won 37 seats, improving its position in the state by a huge margin. The SP’s vote share stood at 33.59 per cent.
After the BJP’s unexpected defeat in Ayodhya, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The BJP could have lost more seats in Uttar Pradesh. They have tortured the people of Ayodhya. The land acquisition process was rigged, people were falsely accused, their lands were usurped and they were not given proper compensation.”
He said, “They have also done injustice to the traders. They displaced poor families to build a holy place and I believe this is the main reason for the defeat of the BJP in Ayodhya. Also, I want to express my gratitude to the people of Ayodhya who voted in favour of the Samajwadi Party.”
