Aviation News: Recently, a paper napkin with the words ‘Bomb@5:30’ written on it was found in the toilet of an Indigo Airlines plane ready to take off for Varanasi at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Because of these three words written on the paper napkin, not only did the CISF and other security agencies have to spend about 6 hours in checking the plane, but the same amount of time was wasted by the passengers traveling on this plane.
While the security check of the plane was going on in the isolated way of IGI Airport, a debate was going on in the terminal among some passengers who were going to travel by this plane. The topic of debate was the hoax calls coming every day at the airport and the unnecessary waste of time. Some passengers believed that when the security agencies know that all this is the result of someone’s mischief, then why do they waste the time of the passengers unnecessarily.
How important is security check on every bomb call
To make you realize how important security checks are after any bomb call, let me take you back 44 years. This is of 27 March 1977. Independence movement was going on in Canary Islands. The separatists running the movement had threatened to explode two bombs at Gran Canaria Airport, which was taken very lightly by the security agencies. The result was that the first bomb exploded at 1:15 pm on 27 March 1977.

When this secret layer was opened and looked at, the CISF and Customs officials were left stunned by what came out of it. To know the whole matter Click Do it.
All flights were diverted after the blast
Eight people were injured in this bomb blast. After this blast, the security agencies were shaken and the airport was immediately closed for security checks due to the fear of another bomb blast. Meanwhile, Boeing-747 of KLM Airlines and M-747 of Pan Airlines arriving at Gran Canaria Airport were diverted to Los Rodeos Airport in Canary Island of Spain. Both these planes landed safely at Los Rodeos Airport.
Aircrafts were allowed to return
On the other hand, after the security check was completed, Gran Canaria Airport was opened. Also, the aircraft stranded at Los Rodeos Airport were allowed to return. After which, KLM Airlines’ Boeing-747 was asked to take off. Since Los Rodeos Airport was a very small airport and its runway did not have the capacity to operate big aircraft, ATC asked the KLM Airlines pilot to reach the end of the runway and turn 180 degrees.
The plane was not visible due to heavy fog
After completing this process, the KLM pilot told ATC that the crew checklist was not complete yet, so he could not take off and they would have to wait for a while. After this, ATC allowed the pilot of Pan Am-747 to proceed. Pan Am-747 had just taxied and reached the runway, when the KLM plane started running. Since the weather at Los Rodeos Airport was very bad at that time and there was dense fog, the pilots of Pan Am-747 at one end of the runway and KLM at the other end were not able to see each other.

KLM-Pan Air planes collide with each other
Now the KLM Airlines plane was at its full speed. Just before takeoff, both the pilots saw each other’s planes. To save the plane, the pilot of Pan Am-747 tried to turn the plane towards left with full force. On the other hand, the KMM Airlines plane had crossed its V-1 speed. To save himself, the pilot raised the nose of the plane for takeoff. But, something else was acceptable at that time. Within a few moments, both the planes collided with each other.
538 passengers died in the plane crash
After the KLM and Pan Am Airlines planes collided, only the debris of the two planes, the flames rising from the debris and the bodies of the passengers were visible on the runway. At the same time, some passengers who somehow survived the accident were crying for help. According to the report, a total of 538 passengers died in this plane crash, including all 234 passengers of KLM Boeing-747 and all 14 crew members. Apart from this, 335 people died among the 396 passengers and crew members of Pan Am-747.
Somewhere the security officer is also responsible
Aviation experts believe that whatever the reason for this accident may be in the investigation, the security officers of Gran Canaria Airport were also responsible for this accident. If they had taken the separatists’ threat seriously and had stopped these planes at their initial airport in time, then perhaps this big accident could have been avoided.

That’s why security agencies take the threat seriously
According to aviation experts, there are many such accidents, keeping in mind which no threat coming to the airport is ignored. As per the procedure, now a label is assigned to every threat, based on that label of the threat, the security drill is completed. No matter how much time it takes. Security agencies believe that a little inconvenience is better than a little inconvenience for the safety of the passengers.
