Tamil Nadu Class 12 results 2024 declared on Monday, May 6 (Representational/File)
Chinnadurai, 17, who hails from a Scheduled Caste, had almost given up on completing his Plus Two studies after becoming a victim of caste violence in August last year.
Despite facing personal tragedy, two of them losing their father during the exams, the three students passed the Class 12 Tamil Nadu board exams with flying colors.
R Rajeshwari from Cuddalore had to appear for the Physics exam against her wishes as her father died suddenly on the day she was to take the exam.
“I was in no position to take the exam. But my relatives forced me to write saying that an academic year would be wasted,” she said.
He still remembers the pain of losing his father in March. “I didn’t know how I was able to write. Everyone in the school cooperated. Today when the result was declared I was surprised that I scored 70 out of 100 in Physics,” said Rajeshwari. Overall, she scored 474 marks out of 500.
In the case of Tarun from Gudalur, his father died on the day of the examination. Nevertheless, overcoming his grief, he took the exam and scored 453 marks out of 500.

Chinnadurai was attacked and injured by six students of his school at his home in Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district. His younger sister, who came to intervene, also suffered injuries. Both were admitted to the hospital. Chinnadurai’s grandfather later died of shock.
He decided to leave school but his school teachers and elders convinced him to continue his studies and take the board exams. The result was fantastic. He scored 469 marks out of 500.
According to the Class 12 exam results declared at the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) campus here, a total of 7,19,196 students out of 7,60,606 who appeared in the board exams in March this year have passed.
