Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan on Monday evening launched a new rendition of his iconic song Papa Kehte Hain from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), his debut lead film as an actor. Titled Papa Kehte Hain 2.0, the track is from Srikanth, which features Rajkummar Rao. Singer Udit Narayan, the voice behind Papa Kehte Hain, was also present at the event. What did Aamir and Udit say
Aamir recalled at the event that Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was not only his debut film, but also co-star Juhi Chawla, composers Anand-Milind, singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, director Mansoor Khan and many crew members. He remembers that when he watched the film with Mansoor, he felt uncertain about the film and saw “only flaws”.
“But one day it released and it was amazing to see her journey. I believe Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is a milestone in Indian cinema. Since 1988, you can see changes happening,” he said. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan and produced by his famous uncle Nasir Hussain.
Udit Narayan also recalled that when he was asked to sing for Aamir, he wanted to go back home. “36 years ago he introduced me to Aamir and said I had to sing a song for him. He said, “I was pure and I was ready to go back home if the song didn’t work.” Aamir joked that Udit might be wondering if Aamir is really an actor.

He said, “I found the story of Shrikant Bolla very inspiring. Born in a very poor family, how did he achieve so much in his life, that he established a million dollar company. Moreover, he is also visually impaired. I Never seen.” Played such a role, so it was very challenging for me, I thought it would be very scary to do it, but when you get over the fear, you will enjoy it.

Talking about her preparation work, she said, “Preparation was very important for this role. We used to go to blind schools for hours. We spent time with real-life visually impaired people. So there was a lot to see and see. I also got to know about his life, how he sees the world. I spent a lot of time with Srikanth, because we are portraying his life on screen, to understand things from him. He took a decision. I got a lot of information from him.”
