New Delhi. Maruti had showcased its new Swift at the international level last year and now AutocarIndia’s report has revealed that the new Swift will be available for sale in India next month. The Swift will be one of the major launches from Maruti this year, and will be followed by the new Dzire compact sedan later this year. The new Maruti Swift (codename: YED) has a fresh but familiar look, new interior, more features and a new petrol engine.
Swift has been spotted testing in India. It will look similar to the models being sold abroad. But, some features will also be given in it keeping India in mind. The publication quoted sources as saying that the India-spec Maruti Swift will have slightly different looking front and rear bumpers, but the changes will be minimal. The number plate housing will be larger and will not have contrast black elements. The alloy wheel design is also similar to the international car, but the mid-spec variant will have a unique wheel design.

The report also says that the car coming to India will not have a 360-degree camera or ADAS, which is seen in models sold abroad.
Will get new 1.2-litre Z series engine
The K series 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine will be replaced by the new Z series 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, which debuted in the Swift in Japan last year. Special changes will be made in this engine with focus on emissions, efficiency and output. According to the publication, the output of the new Z series equipped Swift will be similar to the outgoing K12 engine which generates 90hp of power and 113Nm of peak torque and is expected to come with mild-hybrid technology. There is no information about the transmission of the new Swift, but it is expected that 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox will continue to be available with this engine. Its starting ex-showroom price in India can be Rs. 6 lakhs.
