The new series The Three Body Problem is constantly surrounded by controversies. Now a former Youzu Games executive named Xu Yao has been sentenced to death for the murder of high-profile Chinese gaming company founder Lin Qi, according to a new report. Court gives details about food poisoning
According to a statement from the Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court, in December 2020, Xu Yao mixed poison into the food of company founder Lin Qi because of a dispute over running the business. Lin, who was 39 at the time, died about 10 days later. Xu was detained a few days after Lin’s death.
The court also said in a statement that four other people had fallen ill but not died after Xu poisoned drinks at the office. This happened between September and December 2020 due to disputes with both of them.

Yuzu owns the film rights to The Three Body Problem, a best-selling Chinese science fiction trilogy. According to Chinese media reports, Xu was leading a subsidiary company in charge of related business.
In September 2020, the company gave Netflix the rights to produce an adaptation of the trilogy, as Chinese state media reported at the time. Also known as Yuzu Interactive, Yuzu developed Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming, a game based on the hit TV series.
The Three Body Problem was translated into English in 2012 and became an immediate hit. It became the first Asian novel to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel. The new Netflix series, released on March 21, stars Si Shimuka, Benedict Wong, Tsai Chin, John Bradley, Eiza Gonzalez, Liam Cunningham, Jess Hong, and Jovan Adepo.
