“56-inch chest is cool,” Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took a subtle dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after US President Donald Trump reiterated his claim on Tuesday about his role in stalling Operation Sindoor in May.
Sharing a clip of Trump’s public address, Ramesh said this is the 56th time that the US President has claimed about his role in the sudden de-escalation of military tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack.
Donald Trump is currently in South Korea on the final leg of his Asia tour for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. He reiterated his role in ending the India-Pakistan war in South Korea and Japan “for the 56th time”.
He has earlier made similar claims in America, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Britain.

In a post on X, Ramesh said, “This is President Trump addressing the APEC CEO summit in South Korea a few minutes ago. Much more detailed than before.”
He said, “For the 56th time, President Trump has talked about suddenly stopping Operation Vermillion. But the self-proclaimed but now completely shrunk and deeply exposed 56-inch chest is still silent.”
In a previous tweet, the Congress leader shared Trump’s address to business leaders in Japan yesterday evening and said, “No wonder his good friends in New Delhi don’t want to hug him any more.”
What did Donald Trump say?
At the APEC CEO luncheon in Gyeongju, South Korea, Donald Trump repeated his controversial claim that his intervention helped ease tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations – India and Pakistan – and claimed that seven planes were shot down during the conflict.
Trump said he personally contacted both PM Modi and Pakistan’s leadership to stop hostilities while linking the proposal to trade talks.
“I am doing a trade deal with India and I have a lot of respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have very good relations,” he said. He said, “…I’m reading that seven planes were shot down. These are two nuclear nations. And they’re really going after it.”
Trump said he called Prime Minister Modi and said, “We can’t make a trade deal with you. You’re starting a war with Pakistan. We’re not going to do that.” He also said that he then called Pakistan and said, “We are not going to do business with you because you are fighting with India.”
“‘No, no, you should let us fight.’ Both of them said this. They’re strong people,” Trump said.
He then praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “the best-looking man”: “He looks like you’d want your father to, but he’s a killer. He’s very tough. ‘No, we’ll fight,’ [PM Modi said]I said, ‘Wow, this is a guy I know,'” Trump continued.
“Literally two days later, they called and they said, ‘We understand,’ and they stopped fighting. How is that? Isn’t that amazing? Now, do you think Biden would have done that? I don’t think so,” he concluded.
