Utkarsh, who has been living in Indore for the last decade, comes from a supporting family. His father, Alok Awadhiya, works as a branch manager at HDFC Bank, while his mother, ASHI Awadhiya, is a housewife. He also has a younger brother.
Referring to his preparation, Utkarsh shared that his serious NEET journey began in class 11. “I joined coaching in class 10, but my focused NEET preparation started two years ago when I entered class 11. I mainly followed NCERT books,” he said.
Staying disciplined was important for Utkarsh. He used to wake up his day around 5:30 am to 6:00 am. “I used to study for 1-2 hours in the morning before starting my routine. After breakfast, I attended the coaching classes for 6-10 hours. Once I returned home by evening, I made sure to take some time for holiday activities like volleyball or badminton playing. It helped me stay fresh and balanced,” he said.
Despite the pressure associated with competitive examinations, Utkarsh maintained a stress-free approach towards his studies. He said, “I really enjoyed studying. I often used to get into a flow, where I don’t even know how the time passed. While my friends, family, and teachers were a great support, my internal inspiration was the biggest factor that continued me,” he explained.
Utkarsh highlighted the mock test and the important role of last year’s papers in its preparation. According to him, the structured courses and regular testing allowed them to arrange their course systematically and modify it well. He said, “I always knew well about upcoming tests and themes, helping me to be organized. I managed to modify the course two to three times before the actual exam. Regular practice with mock tests helped me identify my weak areas and work efficiently,” he said.

For future NEET aspirants, Ushashsh had clear and practical advice. For the repatters, he suggests analyzing previous mistakes and focusing on correcting them with targeted preparations. For freshers starting in classes 11 or 12, their advice is to remain attentive in the classroom and absorb as much as possible during lectures. He advised, “Try to understand at least 50-60% concepts in class. After that, modify regularly according to the planner. If your coaching institute does not provide a detailed plan, make one for yourself and strictly follow,” he advised.
After studying a subject, he also emphasized the importance of daily problems. “Solving questions helps you evaluate your understanding. If you get stuck, do not hesitate to ask your teachers for help,” he said.
Now, with NEET behind him, Utkarsh set his scenic spots on AIIMS – its next big goal.
