Kangana’s statement was to hit back at Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. The Rajya Sabha MP had criticized him for his adverse comments about Mumbai Police.

In another controversy in 2020, Kangana called actress-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar a ‘soft porn star’. During a TV interview, Kangana had given a statement against Urmila, who was a Congress leader at that time.

Kangana, clearly angry at questions related to her political aspirations, replied that if Urmila, who according to her is known only for her ‘soft porn films’, can get an election ticket, then why should she? No?

Urmila made her political debut as a Congress candidate from the Mumbai North seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. she lost. Later, she resigned from Congress and joined Shiv Sena in 2020.

Kangana also faced criticism for “wrongly” identifying an elderly woman as “Bilkis Dadi” in the ongoing farmers’ protest, who was arrested under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (now in force) at Shaheen Bagh in the national capital. He said she was “the same old woman who was featured in Time magazine as the most powerful woman”.

This controversy also included actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, who defended the farmers, and got embroiled in a heated war of words with Kangana Ranaut on the social media platform X.
