Airport News: Four bags have been recovered from Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. All these bags had reached IGI Airport by Air India flight coming from Futec. As soon as these bags were opened on the basis of suspicion, the eyes of all the officers present there remained wide open. So far four passengers have been arrested in this case.
The eyes of the Custom Air Intelligence Unit were fixed on the passengers coming from abroad and their luggage. Meanwhile, AIU’s eyes were fixed on four passengers who were walking for a long time in the terminal. These passengers were walking with their luggage from one corner of the arrival hall to the other. On the basis of profiling, AIU stopped these passengers for investigation.
During interrogation, it was revealed that these four passengers had reached Terminal 3 of IGI Airport by Air India flight AI-379 coming from Phuket. When the baggage carried by these passengers was X-rayed, suspicious images were seen. After this, all the bags were opened in the presence of passengers. As soon as the bag was opened, the eyes of all the officers present there remained wide open.
Actually, 29 transparent polythene packets were recovered from these bags, inside which hydroponic weed was filled. A total of 9.919 kg of hydroponic weed has been recovered from the four recovered bags. Let us tell you here that to protect the hydroponic weed from customs, about 1133 grams of packing material was used.
According to a senior customs officer, an FIR has been registered against the four accused under sections 20, 23, 29 and 43 (B) of the NDPS Act and they have been arrested. The value of hydroponic weed recovered from its possession has been estimated to be around Rs 9.91 crore. The investigation of the case is currently going on. Here let us tell you that hydroponic weed is also commonly known as ganja.
