Maruti Suzuki Dezire will be offered with petrol and CNG powertrains.
Ahead of its launch on November 11, the fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire has achieved a significant feat by scoring a five-star rating from the global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) for crash tests. The 2024 Maruti Dzire is now reputed to be the first and only vehicle from the manufacturer to achieve the highest score in the Global NCAP assessment. A range of safety features incorporated into the model by Maruti have enabled the sedan to secure a 5-star rating for adult passengers and a 4-star rating for children.

Based on information provided by Global NCAP regarding the crash test of the Dezire, it was determined that the vehicle structure and footwell area received a stable rating, indicating the ability to withstand additional load. Additionally, it is noted that three-point seat belts are available in all seating positions, as well as I-Size anchorages, which are included as standard features.

The crash test found that the ‘adult’ dummy used during the procedure provided full protection, while the ‘child’ dummy provided good head and chest protection. Protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis was found to be good in side-impact testing. In the side-pole impact test, protection for the head, abdomen and pelvis was found to be good, although chest protection was marginal.

The new generation Dezire uses the same engine as the Swift. So, it is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit that is tuned to produce 80 bhp and 111 Nm. CNG powertrain will also be offered from launch. When running on CNG the power and torque output will drop to 69 bhp and 101 Nm.
