Students of MBM Engineering University in Jodhpur, Rajasthan were left shocked after their BE 2nd semester results were declared. Several students scored 103 to 137 marks out of a possible 100, following which university authorities began investigating the matter.
A private agency, which was entrusted with the task of preparing the online results, has been asked to explain the shocking discrepancy, while the results were immediately withdrawn from the official website of the university, reports The Times of India.
The university’s controller of examinations, Anil Gupta, said the problem occurred due to a technical error while uploading the results and the correct results would be out after some time.
“As soon as the matter was brought to our notice, we immediately directed the online cell to remove it from the site and also issued them a notice seeking an explanation for this error,” the publication quoted him as saying.
Almost all of the 800 students who took the exam had errors in their results, with many being given marks between 103 and 137. In one instance, a student was given more than 100 marks in five subjects who took the exam.
The said student obtained 137 marks out of 100 in the subject Engineering Mechanics Lab, and he obtained 123 marks out of 100 in Chemistry Lab. However, while 675 marks out of 600 were added to the marksheet of the said student, his total was shown as 219.

Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister of Railways, Electronics and Information Technology and Communications, is among the notable alumni of the university.
While the examination which brought the university authorities into controversy was conducted in May, the correct result was expected to be uploaded on Thursday, October 09.
past controversies
This is not the first time that Jodhpur’s MBM College of Engineering is embroiled in some controversy. Earlier this year, a student was caught cheating in an exam by a teacher, after which he attacked another teacher. Later the police were called and the student concerned was handed over to them.
