A case came to light in Sant Kabirnagar, UP which has made mobile phone users across the country happy. In fact, a consumer court has ruled in favor of the consumer when the phone gets damaged due to getting wet in water and has ordered the company to return the extra amount along with the price of the phone. New Delhi. Companies use many types of tech and features to make their mobile phones popular among the people. One of these features is water resistance. This means that even if the phone falls in water for some time, it will not get damaged. But this happened with a phone user named Shakti Vikas Pandey in Sant Kabir Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Vikas had Samsung’s Fold 4 phone. Its price is Rs 1,57,998. It was claimed by the company that this phone is waterproof. But when this actually happened, all the claims fell flat.
According to Vikas Pandey, on September 26, he took the phone to a market where it started raining. The phone got wet in this light rain and stopped working. According to Vikas, he also took the phone to a service center but to no avail. After this he tried to contact the company several times but did not get any response from there.
Victim reached consumer court
After this, Vikas Pandey thought it right to choose the path of consumer court. The matter reached the District Consumer Commission of Sant Kabir Nagar. The hearing of the case took place under the leadership of Surendra Kumar Singh. The commission ruled that the full price of the phone would be refunded to the victim. Apart from this, additional payment of 10 percent + Rs 30,000 of the price of the phone will be made. The commission said that the full price should be received by the victim within 60 days.
About Samsung Fold 4
Samsung Fold-4 was launched in August 2022. This is a foldable phone whose display size is 7.6 inches. It has 3 main cameras, one of which is 50 megapixels. The selfie camera is of 4 megapixels. It does not have a memory slot. That means you cannot increase the storage of the phone by inserting a memory card from outside. This phone comes with 256 to 1 TB storage. It has got IPX8 water resistance rating. This means that the phone will not get damaged even after being immersed in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. The phone has a 4400 mAh battery.
What to do if the phone gets wet
If your phone gets wet, you can take some steps which will increase the chances of it not getting damaged. However, these are not foolproof methods. But sometimes these tricks save the phone. So let us know what you should do immediately after the phone gets wet.
- If your phone falls in water, first of all switch it off immediately and wipe it thoroughly with a dry cloth.
- After this, instead of putting the phone in a rice box, keep it in an airtight bag containing silica gel packets.
- Silica gel absorbs moisture quickly, while the starch present in rice can stick inside the phone, increasing the damage.
- Keep the phone switched off for at least two days so that the moisture inside gets completely removed.
- Keep in mind, do not use hair dryer or fan to dry it because hot air can damage the circuit.
- Also, do not make the mistake of charging the phone before it is completely dry, otherwise there may be a risk of short circuit.
