Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a strict warning to the protesters after the violence on ‘I Love Mohammed’ Ro in Bareilly after Friday’s prayer.

“If you do vandalism in the name of faith, then attack the pedestrians in the name of faith … attack the police, then we will not let you go …Chedhoge to chodenge nahi aur chodenge nahi toh fir chootoge bhi nahi [If you trouble us, we won’t spare you and then you won’t be able to escape]”Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday (27 September) while speaking at the ‘Vikasit Up’ program of a media house.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “There are some people who dislike peace and welfare. Whenever a Hindu festival or festive approach, they get hot. To cool our heat, we have to resort to dental and painting … faith is a matter of conscience, not a matter of opposition …”

Yogi Adityanath’s comments came when tension in Bareilly increased after a large crowd. After taking the poster of ‘I Love Mohammed’, after Friday, after a Friday prayer, he collided with the police outside a mosque in Kotwali area.

The mob had allegedly angry at the cancellation of the final-mint of the demonstration proposed by Raza Khan, the head of Etahd-e-Milat Council, who claimed permission by the authorities.

Raza Khan initially called for protest in support of the “I Love Mohammed” campaign and on Saturday was arrested for allegedly mastermind the violence. Raza has been accused of using inflammatory speeches on Friday to provoke violence.

‘Maulana forgot who is in power’

In an attack on Maulvi Tauqir Raza Khan, Yogi Adityanath said, “Sometimes people are not able to easily remove their bad habits. For this, denting-painting is required …”

Adityanath said without any name, “You saw it in Bareilly yesterday. A Maulana forgot who is in power.”

CM Adityanath said, “He thought that by the time he wanted, he can stop the system by releasing the danger, but we made it clear that there would be neither roadblock nor curfew. However, you will be taught a lesson that your future generations will never indulge in riots,” CM Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister questioned the intention behind the public meeting. “What kind of it is to stop the system? It was a trend in UP before 2017, but after 2017, we have not allowed even a curfew.”

He said that such “obstacles” were appropriately dealt with in the development of the state. “The story of the development of Uttar Pradesh begins here.”

Does ‘I Love Mohammed’ protest

The controversy returned on 9 September, when the police in Kanpur filed an FIR against 24 persons for allegedly setting up boards with ‘I Love Mohammed’ during the Eid-e-Milad-un-drama procession on 4 September.

Some Hindu groups objected to this, calling it a “deviation from tradition” and a “intentional provocation”.

“Members of the Muslim community had established these boards last week and erected a tent on a public road from where the Ram Navami procession usually passes,” PTI It was said earlier in September.

The dispute soon spread to several Uttar Pradesh districts and states like Uttarakhand and Karnataka, which led to protests and police cracks.

This line attracted the attention of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owasi, who said “I love Muhammad” saying that there was no crime.
