Noida and Greater Noida fall in the down wind area of Delhi. When the weather changes, the direction of the wind changes. Usually, Delhi’s pollution passes through these two areas. On the other hand, if the wind speed is low, it also stays in these areas.
2. Industrial area
Compared to Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Sahibabad are industrial areas. There are a lot of industries here, the gases and pollution coming out of these keep poisoning the air here. Due to which the level of pollution here remains higher than in residential areas.
3. Power Cut
Power cuts are very rare in Delhi, whereas Noida and Greater Noida face a lot of problems due to power cuts on a daily basis. Due to frequent power cuts, the industries here use heavy generators run by diesel or other alternatives to keep the work going, which are very important in spreading pollution.
4. Less public transport
In comparison to Delhi, public transport facility in Noida-Greater Noida is not even 50%. Metro, electric buses etc. facilities are very less. Most of the people living here use private vehicles only. Also, due to lack of sufficient parking space, many two-wheelers and four-wheelers are easily found in every house here. In such a situation, when these vehicles run, the smoke and particulate matter coming out of them contribute to increasing the level of pollution.
5. Fast construction
Due to the shifting of lakhs of people from Delhi and other cities to Noida and Greater Noida, construction has increased to provide residential facilities for these people. Along with this, industrial and commercial construction has also increased. The way construction work etc. is banned in Delhi due to pollution, such a thing is rarely seen in Noida.
Will the air in Noida become poisonous?
Vivek Chattopadhyay says that as the winter season approaches and the pollution level in Delhi increases, the situation in Noida and Greater Noida may become even worse. The air here has already started getting poisoned, if efforts are not made to control the pollution level in these cities from now on, then it may become more difficult to live here in the coming days.
