New Delhi. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Action Replay’ was released in the year 2010. But this movie flopped badly at the box office. Now the film’s director Vipul Amritlal Shah told during an interview why people did not like his movie. Years later, he admitted his mistake and said that he considered only himself to be the reason for the film’s flop.
Vipul Amritlal Shah told during an interview with Vaad that the audience did not like Akshay Kumar’s look in ‘Action Replay’. However, during the shooting, Akshay had also interrupted Vipul for this experiment but he did not listen to the actor. The director said, ‘I made an action replay, but it did not work. As a director, I did not know how to make a period film. This was my mistake. I don’t blame anyone else for that. This was my failure as a director.
The director did not listen to Akshay Kumar
The director told why the film failed at the box office. Vipul Amritlal Shah said, ‘Firstly, Akshay Kumar’s look in the film was very wrong and he had interrupted me that you were taking the experiment a little too extreme. Don’t do this. I said no sir, let’s do this. He always supports the director’s vision, so he agreed to my point. It was my mistake that despite his interruption, I kept his same look in the film.
People did not like the film because of Akshay’s look.
Vipul Amritlal Shah said, ‘People did not come to the theater because of the looks, you have made a handsome hero with big teeth and what not. This movie is nonsense, we don’t want to watch it, but when the movie came on TV, it became Akshay Kumar’s highest rated movie at that time. Sometimes it happens that people do not like the film because of small things. There were big stars like Aishwarya Rai, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav in the film, but people were not able to connect with that movie.
The film could not even recover its cost at the box office
Let us tell you that ‘Action Replay’ was made on the backdrop of the 1970s. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditya Roy Kapoor worked in it. Although the music and songs of the film proved to be a superhit, people did not like the story at all. According to Box Office India, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Action Replay’ was made with a budget of Rs 51 crore, but could do business of only Rs 46 crore worldwide.
