Air India plane crash: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was in a London-Bound Air India flight, who had crashed near Ahmedabad Airport, died in a tragic accident. Rupani, 68, was going to London to meet his family.

68-year-old Rupani Boeing 787 was one of the 242 people in Dreamliner, crashed in a residential area in Meghani Nagar after the take-off on Thursday afternoon.
Who was Vijay Rupani?
From 2016 to 2021, the 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat Rupani was born to Mayaben and Ramnikalal Rupani, Yangon, Myanmar in a Jain Bania family for two term. Rupani was the seventh and youngest son of the couple. Rupni’s family moved to Rajkot in 1960 due to political instability in Burma

Rupani studied Bachelor of Arts from Dharmandarsinghji Arts College and law from Saurashtra University
Rupni worked as an activist of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his college days. He was an active partner in the Navneman movement and was inspired by the anti-graft movement led by Jai Prakash Narayan. When he was 24 years old, he joined the BJP.
In 1975, rupani was imprisoned in Bhavnagar Jail after he protested against indra gandhi’s emergency. Rupani is also an active swayam sevak of rashtriya swayam sevak Sangh.
A member of the Jain community of Gujarat, Rupni, worked extensively within the party organization before winning his first assembly election from Rajkot West in a by -election in 2014.
