Who is Nisha Pahuja?
Nisha Pahuja moved to Canada with her family in the 1970s and completed her studies in English Literature from the University of Toronto. He worked as a researcher on the CBC documentary Some Kind of Arrangement and later teamed up with Canadian filmmakers John Walker and Ali Kazimi. She became famous after her 2012 documentary film, The World Before Her.

To Kill a Tiger is based in India and tells the story of Ranjeet and his fight for justice after his daughter was sexually assaulted by three men. The official synopsis of the film reads, “In To Kill a Tiger, Ranjeet, a farmer in Jharkhand, India, fights for his life as he seeks justice for his 13-year-old daughter, a survivor of sexual assault. In India, where a rape is reported every 20 minutes and the conviction rate is less than 30 percent, Ranjit’s decision to support her daughter is virtually unheard of, and her journey is unprecedented.

The film was previously screened at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film. It is supported by Cornelia Principe and David Oppenheim.
