Indian Air Force official Shubhanshu Shukla is set to make history for the International Space Station (ISS) of NASA and ISRO later this year. According to a statement by NASA last week, Shubhanshu Shukla will pilot the agency’s mission for ISS on the SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft from Florida for “not earlier compared to Spring 2025”.

Who is Shubhanshu Shukla?
Born on October 10, 1985 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Shubhanshu Shukla completed his higher education at City Montessori School, Lucknow. He is married to a dentist from Janakapuram in Lucknow and has a four -year -old son.
After his schooling, Shubhanshu Shukla joined the National Defense Academy and was commissioned in the IAF in the fighter stream on 17 June 2006. He was an IAF Wing Commander before being promoted to the Group Captain.
He is currently working with a 2,000-hour flight experience as a fighter combat test pilot in IAF, including Sukho-30MKI, MIG-21, MIG-29, AN-32, Dornier, HAWK and Jaguar.
In an old interview with times of IndiaShubhanshu Shukla’s sister, Suchi Shukla, said that her visit to become an astronaut began in 2018-19, and she spent her training period during the Kovid -19 epidemic at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonot Training Center in Star City, Moscow, Russia.
In particular, at the age of 39, she is the youngest to be chosen as an astronaut-numbers and was hand-prepared as one of the four astronauts for ISRO’s historic indigenous human spaceflight mission, Gaganan.

AXIOM Mission 4 (AX-4): Meet the crew
According to NASA, Paigi Whitson, director of NASA’s former Astronaut and Acom Space’s Human Spaceflight, will command the commercial mission, and Sukhanshu Shukla will be the mission pilot.
The two mission experts are the European Space Agency Project Astronaut Slavos Uznanski-Visnivski of Poland and Hungary’s Tibor Kapu.
