Indian-origin robotics engineer Amit Kshatriya was recently nominated as NASA’s new colleague administrator. Amit Kshatriya Early Life
Amit Kshatriya is one of the 100 people in history to serve as a mission control flight director, an alumni at the California Institute of Technology and Austin University of Austin University. According to his LinkedIn Profile, he received Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from California Institute of Technology in Pasadeena, California in 2000.
The son of the first generation of Indian migrants in the US, Amit Kshatriya began working with the space agency in 2003. Initially, he served as a software engineer, robotics engineer and spacecraft operator, mainly focused on the robotic assembly of the International Space Station (ISS).
NASA’s administrator Sean Podfi said, “Amit has spent more than two decades as a dedicated public servant in NASA, working to carry on the US leadership in space. Under his leadership, the agency will chart a adventurous vision to return to the moon during President Trump’s tenure.”
He said, “The unwavering commitment to lead Amit’s knowledge, integrity, and a new era of exploration has made him unique to lead our agency as an associate administrator. We will continue to carry forward the boundaries of what is possible with Amit.”

He was awarded the ‘NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal’ in April 2017, for his exemplary role as a major flight director for the 50th campaign of the space station. He was awarded the ‘Silver Snupi (Astronauts Personal Achievement Award)’ in January 2013.
