The woman filed documents in Seoul’s Central District Court on Friday. This is the first time a North Korean fugitive has taken legal action for human rights violations of Kim Jong Un’s rule in South Korean courts. Choi told the British newspaper Guardian that ‘I have been 13 years since I settled in South Korea, but I still suffer from the serious consequences after torture and depend on medicines. The marks on my entire body testify to the terrible truth of human rights in North Korea.
Choi’s lawyers also include Lee Young-Hune, which is a North Korean fugitive himself. The matter was supported by the North Korean Human Rights Database Center (NKDB). He is now planning to use it as a basis to present it in United Nations Human Rights Bodies and International Criminal Court.
