Addressing an election rally in Basirhat, he also said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should not play with the dignity of women in Sandeshkhali as the “conspiracy of the saffron camp is now exposed”.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal said, “I express my regret for whatever happened to the women of Sandeshkhali and the way they were insulted. I express my grief from the bottom of my heart. I do not want anyone to harm the women. Don’t you dare play with dignity.”
“People would never have understood how the BJP had hatched the conspiracy, if the videos had not surfaced. Banerjee said, “BJP should not play with the dignity of women.”
Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for speaking to Sandeshkhali protestor and BJP candidate Rekha Patra over phone, Banerjee alleged that the country has the “worst track record in terms of women’s safety and security under BJP rule”.
The Trinamool Congress chief’s comments come in the backdrop of several purported videos surfacing on social media claiming that a local BJP leader got several women from Sandeshkhali to sign blank papers, who were later accused of sexual harassment against Trinamool leaders.
