Delhi Airport: It must have been around 6:15 in the evening at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. All the security agencies deployed at the airport were keeping an eye on the passengers coming out of the airport. Meanwhile, the eyes of the Customs Preventive Officers stopped on a foreign passenger coming out of the terminal. This foreign passenger had almost no luggage. Seeing this, the Customs Officer became suspicious. The Customs Officer was unable to understand that this passenger coming from abroad had so little luggage.
Due to this suspicion, the customs officer stopped this foreign passenger and asked about his baggage. On hearing this question, the colour of the foreign passenger’s face changed, which the officer did not take long to understand. Seeing the foreign passenger’s changing expressions, the officer stopped this passenger for questioning. During the questioning, this foreign passenger was not able to give a satisfactory answer to any question. Due to which the suspicion of the customs officers increased. During the intensive questioning, the foreign passenger was only able to say that whatever is there is in the aircraft.
After listening to the passenger, the officers got worried.
On hearing this, all the customs officials present there got worried. On talking to the airline and ATC, it was found that this plane was going to leave for Ahmedabad shortly. Customs officials immediately reached the aircraft. On the information given by the detained foreign passenger, the search of the plane was started. During the search, a black pouch was recovered from under one of the seats of the plane. On opening this pouch, gold chemical paste was recovered inside it.
The officers were relieved after seeing the gold paste
After seeing the gold chemical paste, the customs officials were relieved. Later, during investigation, it was found that this gold chemical paste was hidden under the seat of the plane with the intention of smuggling. After the recovery of gold paste, the plane was allowed to take off. After which the plane could leave for Ahmedabad with a delay of about half an hour from its scheduled time. After this entire exercise, the customs has arrested this foreign passenger.
The accused passenger had brought gold paste from Dubai
According to a senior customs official, 1242 grams of gold paste has been recovered from the possession of this passenger. The value of the recovered gold paste is estimated to be around Rs 83.23 lakh. He said that the arrested passenger is originally a citizen of Kenya. He had arrived at IGI Airport by Air India flight AI-918 coming from Dubai. The investigation of the case is still going on.
