Officials said that among all, 2,29,497 candidates appeared on Sunday for the recruitment of assistant teachers in classes 11 and 12 in schools aided by the Government of West Bengal for the School Services Commission (SSC) examinations.
According to Education Minister Bratya Basu, about 93 percent of a total of 2.46 lakh registered candidates were formed.
The school level selection was conducted after nine years, held in 478 centers, all were located in educational institutions.
Basu said that 13,517 candidates were from outside the state, by majority of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
On September 7, 91 percent of the candidates worth 3.19 lakh were for the first phase of SLST exam, for recruitment of assistant teachers at 636 centers in class 9 and 10.
Among them, 31,362 were from outside Bengal, again, most from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
He said, “I do not want to make political comments, but these figures show that double-engine governments in BJP ruled states have managed or failed to deal with unemployment and create job opportunities for educated youth,” he said.
The latest recruitment process lost its job following the Supreme Court’s decision after around 26,000 school teachers and non-teaching staff, in which the 2016 recruitment process was declared “tainted and determined”.
Thanking the West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC) to ensure transparency, Basu said, “Candidates have great emphasis on conservation of OMR sheets and copies. To evaluate the papers and follow the interviews of qualified candidates. Take care of the interests of transparent, and qualified candidates.”
Chinmoy Mondal, one of the candidates and a member of the qualified teacher rights forum said, “We had qualified in the 2016 examinations and in the establishment, they still lost the job due to corruption by a part of those people. Today my examination has shut down well again. I hope that I will not be a victim of situations for campaigning again.”
