As the Lok Sabha debated the controversial Waqf bill, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav and Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a good exchange of words on 2 April.
“The BJP claims that it is the largest party in the world, but they have not yet been able to elect their presidents,” said Yadav, attracting laughter from the opposition backs. He spoke during the debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, which was first done by Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in the first day.
You will be the president of your party for the next 25 years.
Amit Shah said, “Akhilesh said this jokingly, so I will reply in the same way. All parties in protest choose their party president among five members of the family. In BJP, 12-13 crore workers choose the President through a process, so it takes time.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is the President of Samajwadi Party. Prior to him, his father was the late Mulayam Singh Yadav party president.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JP Nadda’s term ended in June 2024. Currently, JP Nadda is the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha and has health, chemicals and fertilizers in the Modi government.
Nadda became the working president of BJP in 2019. In January 2020, he was promoted as a full -time President. In 2023, ahead of Lok Sabha elections in May 2024, his three -year term was extended to June 2024.
‘India’s secular image is part of the BJP’s divisive agenda’:
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the Waqf Bill would harm India’s secular image in the world and was being brought as part of the “divisive agenda” of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He said, “The minister is saying whether the land is for railway or defense, it is from India. But is the land being sold for defense or railway? The government should guarantee that Waqf land will not be given to anyone else,” he said.
Yadav said that while speaking during the debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju in the Lok Sabha.
“This is a conspiracy to snatch homes and shops from crores of people in the country. When most political parties of the country are not in its favor, it does not need to be brought.
