According to students and experts, UPSC CSE 2024 was of moderate level. The questions in Science & Technology as well as Economy paper were of easy to moderate level.
The preliminary exam of UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024 was held today i.e. on June 16. The general studies exam was conducted from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, while the CSAT paper was held from 2.30 pm to 4 pm. According to students and experts, UPSC CSE 2024 was of moderate level. The questions in the Science and Technology as well as Economy paper were of easy to moderate level.
Arun Bharadwaj from the Faculty of Science and Technology at IAS Study Circle, Rau, said, “Science and Technology questions are mostly of easy to moderate level. Around 11 questions were asked in line with the trends of recent years. Students having a basic understanding of the key areas should be able to answer them accurately.”
In case of the Economy section, most of the questions were asked from the static/core portion and only a few questions were asked from current affairs. Under banking and finance, the focus is on capital market/money market from the chapters on monetary policy, said Basav Uppin, Faculty-Economy at Rau’s IAS Study Circle.
Geography questions were also easier than last year. Indrajit Bariyar, a faculty member of the same institute, said, “The questions remained largely concept-based. Most questions can be answered through a basic understanding of the subject.” Gajanan Dwivedi, another teacher and UPSC expert, said history questions were moderate compared to last year, with some repetition of topics.
Civil services exam aspirant Siddharth Sharma said, “This is my third attempt for the UPSC exam and compared to last year’s preliminary exam, I found this paper moderate as I was taking mock tests regularly.”
There will be recruitment for 1056 posts in various services and departments of the Central Government including IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS. 40 posts have been reserved for Divyang category candidates. A minimum of 33 percent marks will be required to pass the General Studies Paper-2 of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination.
