Over 7,000 students of Class 10 and 12 in Tripura will appear in the ‘Save One Year’ examination, which is expected to be held in the last week of July, an official said on Wednesday.
The Tripura government introduced the ‘Save a Year’ exam in 2020 so that students who fail in two subjects can be promoted to the next class or get admission in colleges by passing the exam again. Students have to score at least 150 marks in their exams.
A total of 2,042 students of Class 10 and 1,385 students of Class 12 have applied for review of their exam booklets.
Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) secretary Dulal Dey said the board will announce the exam schedule in a week. “The exam will be held in the last week of July,” he said.
He said that the students appearing for the examination will have to submit their forms to their respective schools from July 8 to 11 and TBSE should receive these forms from July 12 to 15.
Earlier, TBSE had declared the results of class 10 and 12 on May 24, in which 87.54% and 79.27% students had passed, respectively.
This year, a total of 33,739 students of Class 10 appeared in the board examinations, of which 17,952 were girls and a total of 25,350 students of Class 12 appeared in the board examinations, of which 13,334 were girls.
The Class 12 exams began on March 1 and went on till March 30, while the Class 10 exams began on March 2 and went on till March 23.
A total of 39 schools recorded 100% pass percentage in Class 12 exams and another 13 schools recorded 100% failure. A total of 310 schools recorded 100% pass percentage in Class 10 exams while 16 schools recorded 100% failure.
Last year the pass percentage of Class 10 and Class 12 was 86.02% and 83.24% respectively.
The overall pass percentage of class 10 in 2022 was 86% and class 12 was 94.46%.
The pass percentage of class 12 in 2023 was 11% lower than that of 2022.
