World leaders reached a new climate deal this week – developed countries must provide at least $300 billion a year until 2035. India’s representative Chandni Raina condemned the $300 billion pledge as a “paltry sum” and condemned the agreement. “nothing more than an optical illusion” which “fails to address the enormity of the challenge facing us all”.
Formation of Jharkhand government
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren on Sunday met Governor Santosh Gangwar to submit his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. The party and its allies swept the state assembly elections on Saturday – with India Bloc members unanimously electing him as the legislative party leader. JMM staked claim to form the new government and the oath ceremony for the new CM will be held on November 28.

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar broke his silence on Sunday after the crushing defeat of Maha Vikas Aghadi in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
“The results of Maharashtra Assembly elections are not as expected. Will study the reasons and go to the people. This is the public’s decision. Participation of women in large numbers could be the reason for Mahayuti’s victory in Maharashtra elections,” PTI quoted him as saying.
IPL auction is going on
577 cricketers were auctioned for the next season of the Indian Premier League on Sunday – with Rishabh Pant becoming the most expensive player in IPL history. The list includes 208 foreign players, 12 uncapped foreign talents and 318 uncapped Indian players. At least four franchises enter the auction in search of a team captain.
Deadly Sambhal clashes
Three people were killed and several police officers were injured on Sunday following a survey of a Mughal-era mosque in Uttar Pradesh. The protesters also tried to burn vehicles and pelted stones at the police, while the police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd. The incident occurred after the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid began in the morning on the orders of the court in Sambhal.
