TNPSC conducted a group 4 examination on 12 July to fill the vacant group 4 posts in Tamil Nadu government departments. A total of 3,935 posts will be filled in various categories including Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant and Typist. The results are expected to be out soon.
Group 4 exam is a single-phase test, with appointments based on the marks obtained. As a result, the candidates are eagerly waiting for the declaration of results. To check the results, candidates need to go to tnpsc.gov.in, click on Group 4 Result Link, enter their registration number and date of birth, and then download the scorecard for future use.
The paper was divided into three parts: Part A had 100 questions from the Tamil eligibility-cum-scoring test, part B had 75 questions from general studies, and Part C contained 25 questions from merit and mental capacity. There were a total of 300 marks in the examination. While Part A was held in Tamil, Parts B and C were available in both English and Tamil.
Since 2013, the Public Service Commission has conducted Group 4 examinations seven times. Except for the 2023 examination, the results of three examinations were released within five months, while the other three were released within three months.
The results of 2023 Group 4 exam have been more than one year for selecting 7,301 candidates, which caused a lot of controversy. In response, the results were released within three months to select 8,932 candidates for the 2024 examination.
This year’s group 4 exams are considered to be the most difficult ever. Candidates and examination instructors said that more than 100 questions in Tamil subject were very complicated and were not part of the syllabus. Around 13.89 lakh candidates applied, actually appeared for the exam with 11.48 lakhs, resulting in about 287 candidates competing for each post, and only 0.35%selection rate. In other words, at least 3.5 of 1,000 candidates will be selected.
With the assembly elections coming in 2026, the Selection Commission is expected to release immediate results to avoid additional stress for candidates and political consequences. Earlier, TNPSC President SK Prabhakar assured that the exam is conducted with accountability and transparency, and the results would be published within three months.
