Google Chrome has fully implemented the new Material You Expressive Design (M3) in its Android app. This update has now been rolled out with Chrome version 141. It has rounded edges, dynamic colors and a clean visual look. However, the button sizes have been kept the same so that users can still feel the compact layout of Chrome.
The biggest change is seen in the three-dot menu (icon with three dots). Now here main buttons like Forward, Bookmark, Download, Site Info, Refresh appear in round style. If you visit a bookmarked page, the background of the star icon now becomes a rounded square, making it instantly recognizable that the page is saved.
Changes to the tab grid and address bar
In the tab grid view, the ‘New Tab’ button now appears in a rounded square box, the color of which changes according to the system theme of your phone. Tab Groups now appear color-coded according to the theme color, making it easier to identify different tabs.
Chrome has also placed Incognito Mode, Group Selector, and Tab Switcher in separate rounded boxes, which makes the interface look cleaner.
The address bar has also seen a slight change, with some users starting to notice the new look of the round progress bar, which gives a smooth and fluid effect during page loading.
Rollout and availability
This update has been released as a server-side update and is included in Chrome 141 for Android. If this new design is not visible in your phone yet, then you can force stop the app by going to App Info. This may trigger an update.
