The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has asked all the junior colleges of the state to hold sports, yoga, meditation and practical laboratory sessions at least once a week. During a meeting with the management of private and corporate junior colleges, Board Secretary Krishna Aditya, IAS said that a two -year intermediate course is an important stage in a student’s life and should include activities that support both educationists and personal development. According to a press release issued by the board, the secretary further emphasized that regular physical activity, attention and learning by hands will help reduce stress and improve welfare.
All junior colleges will have to add these sessions to their official timetable. The Secretary will inspect individually selected private and corporate colleges to ensure that the rules are being followed. To maintain discipline and security, colleges have also been asked to install CCTV cameras in laboratory areas.
Aditya highlighted the need for a stress-free environment, especially during the examination. He encouraged colleges to offer counseling services to prevent students suicides and help young people to help in healthy ways. “These steps will create positive competition, better relationship and emotional maturity among students,” he said.
Last chance for admission
The board also announced a one -day special entry window on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, for students who have not yet received admission.
Government and Government-Regional College: No fee
Private Junior College: Rs. 1,000 per admission
Edited or improvement option: Rs. 250 penalty per change
Students and parents are urged to use this last opportunity, as no further expansion will be given.
Representatives of private and corporate colleges welcomed the initiative and said that new measures will help students succeed at the national level by promoting healthy educational environment.
The board has asked all colleges to start a weekly session without delay to support the overall development and mental welfare of intermediate students in Telangana.
