Tata Motors on Wednesday launched its second electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Punch EV, in India. With a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. Rs 10.99 lakh, this is the fourth electric vehicle from the automobile giant.
This electric SUV is available in four variants i.e. Smart, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered +. For the top variant, the price of Punch EV increases to Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has started booking this e-SUV. Customers can book the Punch EV through Tata’s exclusive EV dealerships or through the official website of Tata Motors at the booking amount. 21,000. HT Auto reported that deliveries will start from next month.
The Punch EV is the first EV in Tata Motors’ lineup to feature the Gen 2 pure EV platform called Acti.EV. According to the company, it has a secure architecture built using high-strength materials.
Talking about battery, Punch EV has been introduced with mid and long-range battery pack. The smaller pack is a 25kWH battery unit while the larger unit has a 35kWh capacity. According to the report of HT Auto, both these battery packs have high density cells.
According to Tata Motors, the mid-range model will have a range of 315 kilometers on a single charge. The top end variant can cover a distance of 421 kilometers without recharging. The Punch EV comes with two charging options which include a 7.2kW fast home charger. The carmaker said the Punch EV can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent using a 50kW DC fast charger.
The mid-range version of Tata Punch EV can generate power up to 80bhp and peak torque of 114 Nm. The longer version of this electric SUV can generate power of 120 bhp and peak torque of 190 Nm.
The Punch EV is equipped with comfortable leatherette seats, seat ventilation for the front row, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. It has other features like wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera and blind spot monitoring.
