Delhi Police on Thursday reached the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal to inquire about the incident regarding the alleged attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence.
Visual of a team of police personnel standing outside his residence in Delhi. Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) women’s wing president Richa Pandey Mishra and other wing members also reached outside his residence in an attempt to meet him.
The development comes days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s private secretary Bibhav Kumar was accused of “misbehaving” with Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi on Monday.
What do we know so far about this case
AAP leader Sanjay Singh had on Tuesday confirmed that Kejriwal PS Vibhav Kumar had ‘misbehaved’ with Swati Maliwal. His statement comes a day after reports claimed that Maliwal had called the police from the CM residence to complain about the alleged attack.
“Tomorrow [on Monday]Maliwal had gone to meet Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. While she was waiting to meet him in the drawing room, Vibhav Kumar misbehaved with her. This is a very condemnable incident. Sanjay Singh had said, Kejriwal has taken cognizance of this and will take strict action on the incident.
Earlier on Thursday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) took suo motu cognizance of “allegations by Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal against the private secretary of Delhi Chief Minister, Shri Arvind Kejriwal”.
The NCW said it has summoned Bibhav Kumar to appear before it at 11 am on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Moreover, as soon as CM Kejriwal entered the venue for his joint press conference with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, journalists tried to ask him questions on the alleged attack on the AAP Rajya Sabha member.
However, the AAP supremo avoided all questions on Maliwal. As soon as this issue was raised in the joint press conference, Akhilesh avoided the question. “There are other issues that are even more important,” ANI quoted him as saying.
