Pregnancy during the summer season can be challenging for expectant mothers as the slightly elevated body temperature coupled with hot and humid weather can put them at risk of heat-related illnesses. Experts recommend hydration as the main way to deal with the scorching heat, as well as wearing comfortable cotton clothes that can keep the body cool. Apart from drinking 7-8 glasses of water daily, mom-to-be can also include hydrating fruits and vegetables like cucumber, watermelon and coconut water in her diet. This will not only meet the body’s increased water demand but will also balance electrolytes that regulate muscle and nerve functions and aid in rebuilding damaged tissues.
