New Delhi. The Telecom Department (DOT) had issued a letter of introduction (LOI) to the Starlink, a company of Elon Musk to start satellite -related Internet services in India. After the company agreed to accept all the necessary license conditions related to national security, now the final regulatory approval is going to be received soon. The nodal agency working under the Space Department (DOS) in-Space (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center) may give the storlink green signal in the coming days for the introduction of SATOM services.
The Times of India has quoted sources as saying that the Inter-Space’s Inter-Ministry Standing Committee will consider the proposal of storlink in its upcoming meeting. This committee consists of senior officials of the Department of Space Department, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Reliance Jio and Bharti have strategic partnership with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel for the distribution and network expansion of their services in India. Its main focus is to deliver high-speed internet connectivity to rural and remote areas.

Approval has already been received from security agencies
Sources said that the Ministry of Home and Foreign, which is the chief ministry to take final decisions in security and geophysical affairs, has already approved the proposal of the Starlink at the level of the Department of Telecommunications. Therefore, now the hope of getting approval from In-Space has become very strong.

Starlink was issued a letter (LOI) for the license ‘Global Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS)’ on 7 May to Starlink. This means that the company has resolved security and strategic concerns and it has been verified by the agencies concerned. Sources say, “Now the approval of IN-Space is just a formalities, which can be completed in the next few weeks.”
The process of spectrum allocation also begins
The government has now started the process of spectrum allocation for SATCOM companies. It also includes Saatcom units and joint ventures of Indian telecom giants such as Reliance Jio and Airtel. The agency with an autonomous and single-book system working under the In-Space Department of Space Space, which encourages private companies in the country to work in space sector. Starlink’s entry in India has increased the possibilities of reaching high-speed internet in remote and rural areas of the country.
