Many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have announced the holiday of schools for Monday, 14 July in view of Kanwar Yatra and the ongoing month of Sawan (Holy month dedicated to Lord Shiva).
In the annual pilgrimage, where Kanvariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) collect water from a river and take it to hundreds of kilometers, offering it to Lord Shiva’s temples, the streets are often crowded and people see the disintegration of traffic.
In view of this, holidays have been declared on various dates in some districts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to avoid traffic disruption and inconvenience.
Additionally, to manage the bounce of devotees and ensure safety of school children, the district administration of Varanasi and Budowne in Uttar Pradesh has ordered that all government and private schools will remain closed on Mondays during the Savan period.
Which districts are affected?
1. Varanasi, up: District Administration of Varanasi, residence Kashi Vishwanath (One of the twelve jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva), Has announced that all government and private schools will remain closed on Mondays during Sawan. All schools located on the Kanwar routes for the temple city will remain closed during Sawan every Monday.
This action is in response to concerns about the increasing number of Kanvari with the upcoming security and traffic issues with devotees, using the city’s roads for pedestrian objectives.
2. Badaun, up: Similarly, the district government of Budowne has said that schools are closed on Monday. In the light of the increasing number of devotees, a formal order was issued to avoid any disruption for school -going children and employees.
Officials in Varanasi, Budoon and surrounding areas have taken preventive steps in response to these major ceremonies, including re -starting of traffic and setting up school holidays.
3. Bareilly, up: The district administration of Bareilly has announced the holiday of schools along with the Saptnath temple of schools on every Monday of Sawan, Kanvari, Guldia Gaurishankar and Sidda Gopala Baba Temple will demonstrate waterbuilding in Shiva temples.
4, Haridwar, Uttarakhand: To avoid any circle of school students with a large number of Kanwaria, who collect Ganga water from the holy city, the district administration of Haridwar has announced that all educational institutions including schools and Anganwadi centers will be closed from 14-23 July.
5. Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: All schools in Ujjain, residence of all schools Mahakaleshwar(One of the twelve geotirling of Lord Shiva) will also be closed every Monday from 14 July to 11 August. Every year, a large number of devotees have a thong of the ancient temple to search for the blessings of Lord Mahakal.
6. Noah, Haryana: Meanwhile, in Haryana, Nuh district has announced a school holiday on 14 July due to the Jalabhishek Yatra, which coincides with Kanwar travel activities in the area.
The administration has suspended internet services for 24 hours on Sunday amidst the unrest in the city and fears of public disorder.
A government in Haryana said that there is a strong possibility of disruption in public utility, damage to public property and facilities and a threat to law and order in the district.
