Collector A Kulothungan said in a release that control rooms and relief camps have been opened in Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
The Puducherry government on Tuesday said all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed on Wednesday as the weather department has predicted heavy rain.
Home Minister A Namasivayam said all privately managed institutions and government-aided schools will also remain closed tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan reviewed the steps taken by the government machinery in the context of the ongoing rains in the Union Territory.
Officials of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department briefed him about the measures taken to ensure relief and rehabilitation operations in Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
Collector A Kulothungan said in a release that control rooms and relief camps have been opened in Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
He said the Lieutenant Governor was apprised about the preparedness of the 62 teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) personnel who arrived here from Arokonam on Monday. The government has made all arrangements to deal with any emergency.
