Manzoor Ahmed Laway, a resident of Manzgam in Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir district, was dismissed under Article 311 of the Constitution, officials said.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday dismissed a government school teacher in Kulgam district for his involvement in anti-national activities, an official said. He said that Manzoor Ahmed Laway, a resident of Manzgam in Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir district, was dismissed under Article 311 of the Constitution.
Article 311 of the Constitution provides for the dismissal of a person serving in a civil capacity under the Union or a State. Officials said the government employee’s activities had come to the attention of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
He said he was found to be involved in activities detrimental to the interests of the state, such as involvement in terror-related activities. Lave’s name is in two FIRs lodged at Damhal Hanjipora police station. He is accused of inciting the mob to attack and damage government property on July 9, 2016 – a day after Hizbul Mujahideen militant commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter – officials said.
The mob marched towards Damhal Hanjipora police station and looted arms, ammunition and other government property, he said. They also set fire to the police station, officials said. He reported that in another incident on September 10, 2016, Laway along with his associates led an unruly mob which pelted stones at a joint party of police and security forces, with armed gunmen from among the crowd firing indiscriminately at the police party. Firing took place.
“Lave had the responsibility as a teacher to guide the students not to indulge in activities directed against the security of the state and when the subject itself is instrumental in inciting separatism among the student fraternity Their role does not serve the purpose. He has been appointed to government service,” officials said. He said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements who are taking advantage of being in government service.
Earlier, 56 government officials were dismissed by invoking the provisions of Article 311 of the Constitution.
