School Holiday: The decision to shut down the schools on Sawan Shivratri and Monday is based on the expected crowd, traffic jams and security concerns during the Kanwar Yatra.

The month of Sawan is considered a sacred period dedicated to Lord Shiva. In 2025, Sawan began on 11 July and will continue until August 9. During this time, Mondays are important, and Sawan Shivaratri has special significance. Due to the anticipated traffic disruption caused by the congestion in temples and Kanwar Yatra, several schools of UP and MP have announced holidays.

In Noida, Most of the schools in Noida and Ghaziabad in Delhi-NCR will be closed on July 23, 2025 for Sawan Shivaratri.
Sawan Shivratri is a day to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in Hinduism. Devotees provide water, Belpatra, milk and other items for Shivling. During the Kanwar Yatra, millions of devotees bring Ganga water from Haridwar, Gangotry and other pilgrimage sites to present in Shiva temples. This journey leads to congestion and traffic jams, making it difficult for children to go to schools, so shut in sensitive areas.
