Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the Centre has formed a high-level committee to reform the National Testing Agency (NTA) amid allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam.
“While presenting our case before the Supreme Court, we have promised that our government is committed to a transparent, tamper-free and zero-error examination system. Taking this commitment forward, we have announced a high-level committee for complete restructuring of the NTA,” Pradhan said during a press conference on Tuesday evening.
He further said that the committee has collected expert opinions and reviewed various models, and plans to submit a comprehensive report soon.

The Education Minister said, “I want to assure the youth and students of the country that we are committed to making NTA error-free.”
Expressing concern over accountability, Pradhan stressed that strict legal action would be taken against those found responsible for the irregularities.
“In this process, all those involved in these irregularities will not be spared. Strict legal action will be taken. CBI is doing its job,” the Union Minister said.

Pradhan’s press conference today comes after the Supreme Court’s decision to reject the demand for re-examination of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 exam amid allegations of paper leak.
The court rejected the petitions seeking cancellation and re-examination of the exam, stressing on lack of evidence regarding question paper leak or other irregularities.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, heading the bench, said during the proceedings, “There is absence of material to conclude that the result of the NEET-UG 2024 exam is tainted or there are systemic violations.”
‘Satyamev Jayate’: Pradhan hails SC’s decision
In the same press conference, the Union Minister praised the decision of the Supreme Court and announced that the final results of the medical entrance examination will be declared within two days.
Welcoming the court’s decision, Pradhan said, “Satyameva Jayate. Truth has triumphed.”
He said the NTA will declare the final results of NEET-UG within two days and revise the merit list of the exam based on the observations of the Supreme Court.
Rahul Gandhi played with the ‘sentiments of lakhs of students’
In a post on social media, Pradhan demanded an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for politicising the NEET issue and manipulating the sentiments of lakhs of students.
Pradhan wrote, “This decision will be an eye-opener for those who called the Indian examination system a nonsense and used this opportunity for vested interests to gain political mileage and promote ‘civil unrest and anarchy’.”

He said, “Mr Rahul Gandhi should apologise for playing with the sentiments of lakhs of students and their parents and gaining political mileage out of it.”
